The quantitative fact that consumer spending represents greater than two thirds of the economy’s total output (GDP) as well as the qualitative aspect of America’s social dynamics as it relates to consumer spending highlights the importance of allocating portfolio assets to consumer related companies. We cover the specialty retail industry because not only does it fall into the greater realm of consumer spending but it captures the important aspect of disposable income. We believe our approach to covering the specialty retail industry is differentiated from our competitors because we emphasize the quantitative aspect of financial modeling and then qualitatively combine store level research to develop a pure fundamental thesis that has not yet been identified by the market.
